Through its in-house research programs Bicoll is able to continuously validate and develop its state-of-the-art proprietary technology platform and stay a lead of latest developments. Bicoll's own drug discovery and development projects are currently carried out in the indication field of controlled cell death (apoptosis). Active substances causing a regulated cell death are urgently needed as novel therapeutics e.g. in cancer, for inflammatory and neurodegenerative diseases, or as novel high-potential anti-biotics. Careful adjusting of unwanted reaction processes with small molecules can lead to successful pharmaceutical treatments for the above mentioned disease areas. Bicoll is able to measure such kind of early cell signaling processes in its state-of-the-art test systems that are successfully used to identify potential pure compounds with beneficial effects. The comprehension of the underlying cell signal will help to develop very specific drugs for the benefit of affected patients.
